About Caroline
After graduating from Canterbury Art School, Caroline's first job was as a paste-up artist in an advertising agency in Maidstone. A year later and with very sticky fingers, she decided move on and gain experience in photography and print, then went back to college for two years to study Statistics, Accountancy and Law. On completing her studies, Caroline worked in photography and print and then the newspaper trade for three years before being approached to start up the in-house design studio at SAGA Holidays.
Twelve years later, in 1991, she established her own business in partnership with her life-long friend Gerry Pack. Oak Creative is primarily a design and print agency but specialises in illustration and the more creative side of graphic design. Under Caroline's leadership, it very soon built a strong reputation for reliability and the ability to deliver cost-effective value for money solutions to clients' needs. The Creative Team of nine now offer traditional illustration and design as well as website design, build and SEO expertise. When she gets the opportunity, Caroline likes to indulge in her love of the countryside, carriage driving, hiking in Yorkshire and gardening.
About Rick
A wealth of experience too vast and varied to mention but incase you might be interested... Rick started as a budding Illustrator working in Publishing back in the early 90's. Having had several childrens' books published he decided that may be it would be nice to see some daylight and talk to real people. So now he interacts with clients working on design visuals, corporate branding, and his speciality, illustration. Working with traditional media and computer software, Rick has an annoying eye for detail and will lavish this on every project, well as long as he's had his morning coffee.
About Pip
Pip has lived and breathed design forever - or does it just feel that way? Since art college she has spent her time working at design agencies in London and Kent. Pip has gained a very broad range of experience during this time (and amazingly hasn't become too cynical). She confesses that Oak is the best place to work for - ever. Pip brings inspiration, vitality and creativity (and a little insanity) to the studio working on all kinds of projects but particularly enjoying the creative packaging work that we do. With a wealth of typographic and traditional design skills along with 20 years of computer design and tea making skills she is a key member of our amazing Oak team.
About Stu
Stuart graduated from Plymouth University with a BSc(Hons) in MediaLab Arts (now known as Digital Art & Technology). The course has since been described as a 4 year car crash, in one car a team of internationally recognised computer scientists and in the other a merry band of artists, musicians and theorists. The perfect environment for budding new media designers. 10 years later the current industry buzz phrase is a front end interface and user experience designer but that basically describes someone that is passionate about visual design on the web through the use of graphics, typography, standards based HTML/CSS and search engine optimisation for online marketing.
About Ewen
Ewen has worked in the design industry for 10 years, working in publishing and digital media. His work has covered many aspects of design from print, web design and illustration. Ewen is a creative individual and has a natural artistic flair which can often been seen in his work. He has advanced skills in Photoshop and other industry software. It has been said that Ewen has spent more time at art college than anyone else. He managed to etch up 7 years, studying at The London College of Printing, University of Greenwich and West Kent College, Tonbridge. I suppose the 7 year itch does exist as he decided to get a job. Ewen has lived and worked in Australia where he ran an art gallery in Sydney.
About Barry
Barry graduated with a BA(Hons) in Visual Communications in Graphic Design at KIAD Maidstone before a brief stint living in a warehouse in Birmingham with a strange bunch of individuals comprised of breakdancers, MA art students and Mario Kart experts. Barry soon became entangled in the web and after a short stint as a copywriter reeling off some of the most atrocious puns in the history of man, he now sports over 7 years' experience designing and building websites and emails. His skills include web design, CSS, XHTML, email campaigns, designing web banners and copywriting.
Outside of work Barry enjoys bending iron bars, going out socialising and, rather contradictorily, sitting on his Xbox for ridiculous periods of time.
About Jasper
Jasper graduated with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Bath Spa University College (BSUC). After over 12 years industry experience working on brands like Coke and Orange, primarily in London, Jasper decided to ditch the rat-race and rekindle his love affair with the sea (being a cornish lad). Oak allows him to fulfill his life-long ambition of being a surf/beach bum! Combining his passion for all things creative and surfing, Jasper was involved in a boardriding collective called Redefynd that designed and printed clothing for the surf community. Branding, anything typographic, advertising and the smell of an inked page (print) are the flavours that get Jasper's creative juices flowing.
About Charlie
Charlie recently graduated from the University of Brighton with a Bsc(Hons) in Computing, after moving back along the South Coast he joined Oak as the whizz kid. He now is responsible for creating bespoke content management systems for clients. His weapon of choice is the fantasticly flexible Wordpress. Charlie's wizardry also extends to PHP, CSS and SEO. When not in front of his mac he's always one to try the next extreme sport, from snowboarding to kitesurfing, he's tried them all and usually broken some bones along the way!
About Daniel
Otherwise known by the Oak team as 'Flash Harry'; Daniel a self confessed flash geek spends most of his time coming up with creative flash designs, from logo's to banners to full flash websites. Daniel has been dabbling in the art of flash and design for the last five years, always learning new skills and drives his poor other half mad with his constant flash babble. Skills include flash, photoshop, html, css.
